City Services
Bulk Pickup & Charlotte 311
Need to get rid of a mattress, old sofa, or large appliance? Charlotte picks it up for free — you just need to schedule it the right way.
If it's still in good working order, consider posting to the Franciscan Terrace Facebook group first — a neighbor may want it before it goes to the curb.
Important
Always use the clubhouse address
Because Franciscan Terrace is a private condo community, the city schedules pickups by address. Individual unit addresses may not be recognized. When you schedule a bulk pickup through 311, use:
4751 Hedgemore Dr, Charlotte, NC 28209
Items should be placed near the dumpster/recycling bin area by 7:00 AM on your scheduled pickup day. Do not block the driveway or fire lane.
Construction or renovation debris is not eligible for city pickup. If you're doing work on your unit, your contractor is responsible for hauling their own materials — coordinate disposal with them directly before the job starts.
How to reach Charlotte 311
Three ways to schedule — pick whichever is easiest.
How to schedule bulk pickup
-
1
Contact 311 to schedule Call 311, use the app, or submit online. Tell them you need a bulky item pickup. Pickup is usually scheduled within a week — plan ahead if you're moving or clearing a unit.
-
2
Use the clubhouse address: 4751 Hedgemore Dr This is the address the city recognizes for our community. Do not use your individual unit address or building letter.
-
3
Describe what you're disposing of Be specific — mattress, sofa, dresser, etc. Some items (refrigerators, AC units with Freon) require special handling and must be noted up front.
-
4
Place items at the curb by 7:00 AM on pickup day Set items near the dumpster/recycling bin area. Crews won't retrieve items from inside the property.
-
5
Do not leave items out early Items left at the curb before your scheduled day create an eyesore and may be considered illegal dumping. Set them out the evening before at the earliest.
